Beneficial Programs Offered by The State of Rhode Island

The State of Rhode Island offers several programs for property owners that LeadSafe Inspections and Consulting, Inc have found to be beneficial for our clients.

$5,000 -$15,000 Reimbursement for lead removal work performed in a pre-1978 residential property. The State of Rhode Island has a program that reimburses RI residents for the removal of lead painted components from your residence or rental property. Here is how it works: You will need to contact LeadSafe Inspections and Consulting, Inc. for a pre-construction Comprehensive Lead Inspection. We will complete a room by room, substrate by substrate inspection that will identify all components in your dwelling that contain lead paint. If you choose to remove these components and replace them with new lead free components the State of Rhode Island will reimburse you up to $5,000 per unit with a maximum of 3 units on one plat and lot. This means the state will give up to $5,000 per unit to replace old windows, kitchen cabinets, doors, wood moldings, porcelain sinks, claw foot tubs, lead water pipes, plaster and exterior siding and trim as long as it contains lead. You will also need us to conduct a clearance inspection to verify that the work has been completed and issue a Lead Safe Certificate. Call LeadSafe Inspections and Consulting, Inc. for more details.

(WAP) helps low income households reduce heating bills by providing whole house energy efficiency (also called weatherization) services to households that quality for LIHEAP and that have not had an energy audit in the last 10 years. Tenants (with landlord approval) and homeowners are eligible for weatherization.
If your household qualifies for LIHEAP or if you currently pay A60 electric utility rates then you also qualify for a home visit with a CAP auditor who will review your electric bills and energy use. The auditor will then give you ideas to help you save energy and money as well as replace inefficient refrigerators and freezers, replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs, and install devices to reduce hot water use.
The Heating System Repair Program may provide a one time service to increase the heating system efficiency of owner-occupied low-income households. In instances where heating systems cannot be made efficient and if a system meets certain requirements, the heating system may be replaced. This program is offered year-round through local Community Action Programs. Households that qualify for LIHEAP may be eligible for service of inefficient equipment.
